WHY HIRE A LIVE BAND?

Why a live band?

Energize

A live band provides a level of energy that can’t be matched by an iPod plugged into a speaker. Musicians know how to gauge a crowd and adapt to keep the energy up.

Personalize

A band can change lyrics, do unique mashups, and add any fun twists to the music upon request to make the show more unique and memorable.

Mesmerize

Seeing pro musicians shredding on their instruments, engaging with the audience, and doing fun choreography creates a deeper and more immersive experience.

FAQ

How do I hire your band?
  1. Please fill out this Google form first
This will provide us with all the information we need in order to give you a complete and accurate quote—that way, there are less back-and-forth questions over email.
  2. Once you’ve completed the form, please contact us through the contact form on our website, or email us directly at info@soulsublime.ca.
How do you determine your fee?

There are many factors that go into the final quote, including how many sets of music you want us to play, the distance it requires to travel to the venue, and more. Please complete the booking inquiry form below the FAQ section, then reach out to us, and we will get back to you to discuss a quote that works!

Are there any additional fees?

Several factors may require the band to charge additional fees, such as travelling long distances outside the city, renting a sound system if the venue doesn’t provide one, or providing extra music beyond the standard 3 sets. We assess extra fees on a case-by-case basis, so please reach out and we’ll figure out a quote that is tailored to your event.

Do you take song requests?

Yes! If you have a specific song you’d like us to play, we’d be happy to learn it for you. Please make sure to make this request well in advance of the event so we have time to rehearse it.

What do your sets look like?

Our standard offering is three 1-hour sets of music, however if you would like more or fewer, we can accomodate.

Can the band DJ between sets?

Yes—we can put together a playlist tailored to your event, and you are of course welcome to contribute your own requests.

What does the band wear?

We often wear groovy, ’70s-inspired outfits at our shows, but we can also accommodate your request for a more conservative attire or a specific dress code.

What does the band need on the night of the event?

We will need a sound system and microphones, cables, etc. in order to amplify the band. We also love it if you can provide a backline (drums, guitar amps), but those are less necessary. If you aren’t sure whether your venue has these things, or don’t feel comfortable in this area, feel free to reach out and ask us about it. We are also happy to talk directly with your venue about these details so you don’t have to. If the venue does not provide a sound system, we will charge an additional fee to cover the expense of renting one.

How is Soul Sublime different from regular wedding bands?
  1. Most wedding bands actually operate under an agency or corporation that handles the booking and admin for them, which ends up significantly increasing the price for the client. With Soul Sublime, you are dealing directly with the band and getting the best price for a 7-piece band, sans the middleman.
  2. As mentioned, most wedding/corporate bands in Toronto are actually agencies. These agencies draw from a roster of musicians and assemble a new band for each show, depending on who is available to play it. In other words, most wedding bands are made up of people who don’t play together regularly, and in some cases have never played together until the show. With Soul Sublime, it is the same 7 musicians every time. This established chemistry means a tighter, higher quality performance of all your favourite songs.
  3. To follow on the previous point, because we are the same crew every show, this gives us the flexibility and time to do fun renditions, mashups, and arrangements of classic songs every once in a while. These ones usually make the crowd go wild because they aren’t expecting it!

Hear From Previous Clients!

“I booked Soul Sublime for my partner Jessie’s 30th birthday party, and it was truly an amazing night thanks in big part to Soul Sublime. Ahead of the show, Madeline and the band were easy to deal with, responsive and well organized.

During the performance, the band was interactive, energetic and most importantly SO GOOD. On top of that, the band offered to learn a few of Jessie’s favourite ABBA songs to perform that night which was really special. I could not recommend Soul Sublime enough!”
